Episode 24: Reflect On Your Own Mortality with Justin Rezvani, Iron Man & founder of theAmplify

The Most Important Thing

I asked Justin the most important takeaway he wants for listeners. He responded that he wants you to

“Reflect on your own mortality”

About Justin Rezvani

Justin Rezvani is the founder of theAmplify, a profitable influencer-marketing platform that had a daily reach of more than 500 million in 2013. theAmplify’s clients include Coty, Nestle, Taco Bell, Ford Motor Co. and Unilever. In 2016, Justin sold You & Mr. Jones, a brand-technology company founded by former Havas CEO David Jones, a majority stake in theAmplify.

After selling his company, Justin, 200+ pounds, a self-professed alcoholic decided to he needed to refocus his energy on his health. He decided to race in his first triathlon before he turned 30, which led him down the path to becoming an Iron Man.

Just after his completing his first Iron Man, Justin discovered he had a traumatic brain injury or TBI, and would need surgery. There was no guarantee he would survive the surgery.

He’s now refocused his life on finding stillness and enhancing his relationship with death.

Episode Overview

Only 3 months ago, only weeks after completing his first Iron Man, today’s guest Justin Rezvani, realized he had a brain tumor. He needed immediate brain surgery to remove the legion, and there was a meaningful probability that he would die.

Luckily, Justin survived. Now he is sharing his philosophy on life – amor fati, memento mori -and redefining his relationship to death. In this conversation we discuss goal-setting vs finding stillness. We discuss unfu*king ourselves, crisis points as channels for change, and Stoicism.
